week 1.

(This was an online image that i found when searching for examples of graphic design.)

Its a poster for a band, "former child stars", advertising their latest gig.
Its a simple design, that doesn't use any sort of imagery, but uses the typography as the main focus. The designers used a basic sans serif font, that is uniform through the poster; combined with the overlapping technique used (in the band name) it creates secondary colours.
The colours are loud, playful and fun, and combined with the black background, makes them stand out.
Its a trendy and modern piece, that catches your eye through the colours used, and the inevitable contrast.

The qualities that attracted me to the piece were loud colours, the orderly design and the bold and modern feel of the piece.

  2. ...and for once you were able to do something that i am SLIGHTLY impressed with, bout time
    =p

nice example of graphic design especially with the designer's ability to make an interesting composition with only typography and he/she ability to envelope a hierarchy by font size in decending order.
really encaptulated by the main title's close tracking and the colours forming more colours when in unison

  3. I really like the colors used and how they intertwine and reveal the color that the two different letters mix to make. I also like how everything is right aligned--almost implying the past (aka former). Good choice and great great great description! --Gabriella Saramago

  4. Good job describing your design, it is very clever how the designer made a simple design by only using one type face but in different weight, I like how they have made the letters semi transparent to bring through the other colours. The type looks effective aligned to the right with extremely tight tracking. Nice work

  5. I really like this item you chose because of its colour contrast which draws the persons attention to read it. I also liked the overlapping text to form different colours, its very interesting.
